Sylvia
Cardenas
April 2, 1958 – January 18, 2021
Sylvia Cardenas passed away peacefully on January 18th, 2021. She was 62 years young. Sylvia was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 2nd, 1958.
Sylvia graduated from Memorial High School and attended nursing school. In the fall of 1982, she married her love, Jose Cardenas in Chicago, where they lived. She worked at the Currency Exchange on 26th Street for over 20 years. She then worked at Hub Travel for 3 years. Sylvia finally retired at Amerimex Insurance Agency, where she worked for 7 years as an insurance agent.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Sylvia, knew how selfless she was. She was the kindest person you could meet, full of love and compassion. She was always willing to help anyone any way she possibly could. Most importantly, Sylvia was very family oriented. Family time was everything to her. She never turned down going to the movie theater, bowling, amusement and water parks, and the river. She enjoyed watching Disney movies with her grandchildren, especially Frozen 2. Sylvia loved to go shopping at her favorite store Kohl's and go out to eat with her husband Jose and children. She also enjoyed baking. During her free time from her grandchildren and children, Sylvia enjoyed her crafts. She loved making all sorts of seasonal and fun wreaths, bows, and anything creative with ribbon.
She leaves behind many broken hearts but most importantly her husband, Jose Cardenas of 38 years; and her 5 children: Sylvia Abigail Cardenas, Jessica Jacqueline Cardenas, Jose Cardenas Jr., Rocio Jasmin Cardenas and Karina Linda Cardenas, and 10 grandchildren. She will be missed tremendously.
