Obituary

Timothy Sortore, of Coffeyville, KS, and currently living in San Antonio, TX died peacefully and surrounded by love at home with his family on December 4, 2023, at the age of 67. Tim was born to Jane Carey and Vernon Ray Sortore on February 29, 1956. Tim went to Kansas State University to study Construction Engineering and married his high school sweetheart Melanie Ann Manley on May 24, 1980. They raised three daughters: Carey Elizabeth, Jillian Rae, and Erin Nicole in Coffeyville, Kansas. Tim worked in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, OK and San Antonio, TX in construction. Tim loved his family and was never bored raising three girls. Coaching sports, especially fastpitch softball, was a passion of his. He spent many hours sitting on a bucket catching pitches, occasionally taking one to the shin or chin. He led all the daughters on a "Bad News Bears" local 18-under Kansas/Oklahoma team - named after the family cat Zoie - to a national championship in 2001. He was the life of the party and was constantly surrounded by family, friends, and dozens of honorary daughters. On May 27, 2005, Tim married Geri Ruth Fisher in Tulsa, OK and became a stepfather to Jessica LeAnne Smart. Tim and Geri loved to get out on the motorcycles, play golf, hit the dog park, and tag team the daily Wordle. Tim and Geri moved to San Antonio, TX in 2019 with their rambunctious airedale Layla Jane, sweet labrador Stella, and master destructor cat Mousetrap with a backyard that is ideal for hosting the whole family.

Timothy is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Susan and Sarah Sortore. Left to celebrate his life are his former wife, Melanie Sortore, and current wife Geri Sortore. Children: Carey Dougan (Thomas) of Montague, MA, Jillian Sortore of San Antonio, TX, Erin Bromley (Dustin) of Houston, TX, and Jessica Smart of Bluefield, CT. Siblings: Dave Sortore (Jan) of Kansas City, MO, Dan Sortore (David) of Tulsa, OK, and Matthew Sortore of Coffeyville, KS. Tim loved his grandchildren dearly: Eve Dougan, Benaiah Dougan, Owen Bromley, Liam Bromley, and Blake Bromley. His love for pranks, Airedales and Labrador retrievers, "kwazy" cats, motorcycle riding, and hoodie-wearing will be forever remembered by everyone.

Arrangements entrusted to Castillo Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Timothy Sortore to the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) to save the elephants.
