Tomasita Amaya
Escobar
March 7, 1918 – November 19, 2022
Tomasita Amaya Escobar, born on march 7, 1918 a lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas went to be with the lord on November 19, 2022, at the age of 104. Tomasita was a member of the PTA, where she attended many national PTA conventions. She loved traveling and volunteering in her community, especially at the Westend Senior Center, where she socialized with all the friends she had at the center. Tomasita's hobbies were dancing, watching western movies, and game shows, playing bingo, sewing, quilting, word puzzles, and the Golden Girls. Although Tomasita loved doing all these hobbies her true passion was spending time with her friends and family. Tomasita was truly a woman of inspiration, she was a breast and lung cancer survivor. She also lived through four pandemics and a tragic fire accident. Tomasita is a true example of courage, perseverance, and pride. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Tomasita, reunited in heaven with her husband of 61 years, Henry Escobar, parents Sabas and Juanita Amaya, stepmother Amparo Amaya, grandson Mario Enrique Guajardo, granddaughter Deborah Guajardo, son-in-law Pascual Mario Mayo Guajardo, brothers Miguel & Jose Amaya, and sisters Margarita Casteneda, and Hermelinda Carrasco.
Tomasita is survived by her loving daughter Carmen Escobar Guajardo, grandchildren Pascual E. Guajardo and Aurora E. Guajardo, sister-in-law Evanqeline Ramirez and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
On behalf of the Escobar family, we would like to thank Dr. Jesse Medillin and the staff of Texas Oncology, Candace Chapin NP from Doctors at Your Service, Scott Sanchez, occupational Therapist, and all the Physical and occupational therapist, and all the doctors and nurse who assisted Tomasita throughout her stay at the hospital In the ER and ICU at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital. Also a big thanks to Mr. Willie from the Senior Center. Tomasita will be missed by all her family and friends we were truly blessed to have her all this years.
