Valerie Montez Hernandez, 53, wife of Moses Hernandez Sr, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, June 18, 2023, at her residence in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on January 2, 1970, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of Maria and Santiago Montez III.

She was intelligent and educated earning a bachelor's degree of Arts from Our Lady of the Lake University. Those who knew Valerie quickly recognized how important family was to her. She gave unconditional love to those closest to her. Valeries generosity knew no bounds as she was someone who would help anyone with support, encouragement, and guidance. Spending time with loved ones and family, creating memories, watching those she cared about thrive were all important moments in her lifetime. Valerie was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt who will be remembered forever by all who knew her and missed until reunited together once again.

She is preceded in death by her son, Moses Hernandez Jr, and brothers, Santiago Montez IV and Jerry Montez Sr.

Family members include her husband of 30 years, Moses Hernandez Sr; a son, John David Hernandez (Brianna); a daughter, Megan Rose Hernandez; daughter-in-law, Briana Freedle; grandchildren, Ethan Jax Hernandez, Kinsley Fae Hernandez, and Colin Grey Hawkins; parents, Maria Montez and Santiago Montez III; a sister, Eva Morales; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm for visitation and a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm.

A Chapel Service will be conducted at Castillo Funeral Home on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10:00 am with burial to follow at San Jose Burial Park.
