Velia D. Ortiz went to be with our Lord on May 16, 2022, at the age of 76.

Velia was born on March 27, 1946, in San Antonio Texas. She played an enormous role in the lives of her children and grandchildren who were the pride and joy of her life. She inspired those around her to be better individuals. Her capacity for generosity knew no bounds. She was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Velia loved when family and friends got together. Those times exist in our memories and will be cherished forever. We loved her caring ways, she will be deeply missed, and her memory lives on.

There are no words that can express the feelings in our hearts. Thank you for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Your shared memories, comforting condolences and gestures of love are truly appreciated.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Delgado and Luz Moya Delgado; grandson, Ronnie James Casarez; brothers, Gilberto 'Beto' Delgado, Rudy Delgado, and Eliseo Delgado; sisters, Ophelia Delgado, Corina Villa, Dora Tavitas, and Elidoa Delgado; and Julie and John's father, Isidro Gomez.

She is survived by her children, Oscar Ortiz, Julie Ortiz, John Anthony Ortiz, Jeremiah Campos, Ashely Ortiz, and Linda Ortiz; her 10 grandchildren, and her 25 great-grandchildren; in addition to extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic church on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 10:00 am with interment to follow at San Fernando II Catholic Cemetery.
