Virginia Tapia (born August 3, 1952), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away May 1, 2026. Born to Henry and Matilde Tapia, Virginia is survived by her longtime friend John Acosta; her daughter, Veronica Garza; granddaughters Vitoria “Tori” Alvarez and Viviana “Vivi” Alvarez; stepsons David Garza, Jr. (Maria), Luis Garza (Marisol), and David Ramirez (Pamela); and her brother Alejandro Tapia.
Virginia devoted more than 20 years of service to the Department of Human Services, where she was respected for her professionalism, compassion, and the friendships she cultivated with coworkers. Her work reflected a lifelong commitment to helping others and strengthening community resources. Beyond her career, Virginia was an active member of the Los Jardines neighborhood association, where she was a part of the board, took pride in contributing to neighborhood events and supporting local initiatives.
As a devoted mother to an only child, she supported her daughter, Veronica through every challenge and encouraged her to work hard and succeed. Virginia treasured time with her granddaughters and did everything for them with loving dedication.
Virginia was known for her generous spirit and willingness to help friends. She loved spending time with close friends, sharing stories, laughter, and her warm hospitality. Those who knew Virginia remember her for her kindness, her sense of duty, and the joy she found in everyday moments. She leaves behind a legacy of service, family devotion, and community engagement that will continue to inspire those who loved her.
Services and memorial arrangements will be announced by the family. Condolences and memories may be shared with Castillo Funeral Home. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
