September 12, 1946 – November 24, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Yolanda Fuentes Curd on November 24, 2024 at the age of 78.
Yolanda was a 1964 Valedictorian graduate of Lanier High School. She went on to earn her medical transcribing certification from St. Phillips College and worked over 30 years combined as a professional Medical Transcriptionist for Lutheran General Hospital and Baptist Medical Center until her retirement at 62.
Yolanda was a woman of God and had a strong Catholic faith. She was a wonderful cook who made the most delicious chicken and rice and always had a cake ready for any occasion. She loved watching Alfred Hitchcock movies and classic television shows such as, Ma and Pa Kettle, Twilight Zone, and The Little Rascals. She was also a huge bookworm, loved painting, and loved to dance. She was a thoughtful mother and grandmother who was always there when you needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.
Yolanda was a cherished member of the community in San Antonio, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will be deeply missed.
She leaves behind her children: Patricia Curd Riojas, James (Andrea) Curd, Christine (David) Quintanilla; Grandchildren: Krystle (Richard) Ortiz, Taylor C. Avila, Rebecca (Henry) Enriquez, Peter S. Riojas lV, James R. Curd lll, Sydney B. Quintanilla, Matthew M. Curd, David Quintanilla; 6 great grandchildren, along with countless friends who felt her warmth and generosity. She was predeceased by her mother, Carmen Coronado Rodriguez and father, Jesus Manuel Fuentes.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 05, 2024 from 4:30pm - 8:00pm. A Rosary will occur at 6:30 pm. Services will be held at Castillo Funeral Home Chapel, 520 N General McMullen Dr, San Antonio, Tx 78228.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 06, 2024 at 10:00 am. Service will be held at Christ The King Catholic Church, 2610 Perez St, San Antonio, Tx 78207. (procession to depart from the funeral home at 9:30 am.)
Interment will occur around 11:15 am at San Fernando Cemetery lll, 1735 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, Tx 78226.
