Yolanda Olveda
Garay
June 29, 1966 – January 26, 2020
Yolanda Olveda Garay passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on January 26, 2020 surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.
Yolanda was born on June 29, 1966 to Jesus and Angelita Olveda in San Antonio, Texas. Her children would say she was loving, strong, amazing, compassionate, and generous. Her parents would tell you that she was sweet, caring and at times you didn't know who the daughter was and who the parents were. Her siblings would call her their confidant, their hero, their nurse and their best friend. Her friends would say that she was a sister instead of a friend and what she meant to them is beyond words.
Yolanda had what some would call a servants heart. For 34 years Yolanda dedicated herself to serving the elderly in numerous Nursing Facilities. She started her career as a cook at Woodlawn Nursing Home until she found her place at Sarah Roberts French Home. Although she was a cook she went above and beyond to make sure every resident that she came across was loved and taken care of.
Yolanda will be united with her nephew Sonny Jr and her niece Sayleigh.
Yolanda will be loved and missed by her children Arturo Jr., Ashley, Adam and Alexander. Her grandchildren Nathan, Toni, Armani and Alaina. Her parents Jesus and Angelita. Her brothers Jesse Jr.(Yolanda), Frank, Eddie (Adela), Nick (Cathy), Steve (Juan), Chris (Priscilla) and Sonny(Jessica). Her only sister Kelly (John). She will be loved and missed by her nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and her two dearest friends Rosemary and Christina.
Yolanda's family would like to express their gratitude to Vitas Hospice Care with a special thank you to Nurse Mary, Rudy and Chaplin Michel Aveledi.
Join Yolanda's family as we celebrate her life on Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 4 to 9pm at Castillo Mission Funeral Home with an evening service at 7pm. There will be 10am service at the funeral home on Monday, February 3, 2020 with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery III.
