María De Jesús "Susie" or "Mary" Diaz Zapata expired on September 21, 2020 at the age of 93. Susie was born in Corpus Christi to Maria Brigida Olmos and Aurelio Diaz on October 23, 1926. Susie was the youngest of 18 and is predeceased by her brothers and sisters. She attended Sacred Heart School in Corpus Christi before the family relocated to Monterrey Nuevo León, where she attended Colegio Excelsior. While in Monterrey, she met and married Encarnación Zapata. Their marriage produced 14 children. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Aurelio Diaz and Brigida Olmos Diaz; husband, Encarnacion Zapata; daughters, Antonieta Zapata and Susana "Susie" Zapata; and son, Federico Zapata. She is survived by her children, Jose C. "Joe" Zapata and wife, Jo, Tomas Zapata and wife, Carrie, Mary Z. Huerta and husband, Rogelio "Roger", Imelda Z. Garcia and husband, Gerardo "Jerry", Jose E. Zapata and wife, Chayo, Jerry Zapata and wife, Laura, Daniel Zapata, Eloy G. Zapata and wife, Diana, Marcella Z. Estrada and husband, James, Rachel Z. Alvarez and husband, Emet, and Estevan "Steve" Zapata; 34 grandchildren and 44+ great grandchildren.
