Obituary

Maria Aguinaga Saldana, 73, of San Antonio, Texas, passed into the arms of her Savior on December 20, 2020.
Maria was born on March 27, 1946 to Lorenzo and Santos Aguinaga. After graduating from Edgewood High School in 1964, Maria began a long career as a claims examiner, working for some of the most respected companies in San Antonio, where she was loved by all. It was impossible not to notice her contagious smile and those cheeks.

Preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Santos Aguinaga, and 2 brothers, Lorenzo Aguinaga Jr and Joel Aguinaga, Maria is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger Saldana Sr; sons, Roger Saldana Jr and Roland Saldana, daughters, Rachel Saldana, and Roxanne Saldana, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, siblings; Gilberto Aguinaga, Sisto Aguinaga, Federico Aguinaga, Ramiro Aguinaga, Reynaldo Aguinaga, and Juanita (Janie) Daywood, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Maria was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Maria's pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren who called her their "little grandma." They adored her and she loved spending time and making memories with each and every one of them. She had so much love to share up until the very end. Some favorite pastimes of hers were cooking and baking for loved ones and taking the grandchildren on walks to the park.

Maria was a spiritual woman and a devoted wife and mother. She wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by family, love, and peace.

God looked around his garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon earth, and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.
He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone…for part of us went with you the day God called you home.
