Michael
Barrera
March 5, 1958 – February 17, 2022
Michael Barrera went to be with our lord on February 17, 2022, at the age of 63.
He is preceded in death by his father, Mario Barrera and brother, Mark Barrera.
He is survived by his mother, Marina Guzman; children, Christine Barrera, Michael Barrera, Michelle Barrera, and Lisa Barrera; and his siblings Mario Barrera, Marina Harris, Martin Barrera, and Yesenia Guzman, in addition to extended family and friends.
Michael was born on March 5, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois. He accomplished so many incredible things in life, but he especially loved his family and the memories made together with them. He was in the United States Navy for over twenty years before retiring. He was active in the Band of Brothers a military club that allowed him to spend time with people who loved the military service. Michael was really the ultimate father full of love, support, encouragement, and guidance. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds as he was someone who would help anyone in need. He inspired those around him to be a better person. Michael had many interests including all things pirate and samurai. He was a collector that enjoyed finding military souvenirs and things from the Asian culture. His collection will always remind us of him and those items he held so dear will be cherished forever. He was devoted to his faith and family and brought immense joy to those around him. We loved his caring ways, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Words cannot express the feeling in our hearts. Thank you for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Your shared memories, comforting condolences and gestures of love are truly appreciated.
